Place Value |
Standard FormNumbers can be represented in many ways, but standard form is usually the easiest and shortest way. A number in standard form is separated into groups of three digits using commas. Each of these groups is called a period.
|
Expanded FormA way to write numbers to show the value of each digit. There are many ways in which the expanded form can be written. It is important to keep track of how many zeros are needed in order to maintain the position of each digit.

ADDING AND SUBTRACTING DECIMAL VALUES
MULTIPLYING AND DIVIDING BY POWERS OF TEN
MULTIPLYING AND DIVIDING DECIMAL NUMBERS
Dividing Decimal Numbers: Remember to make the outside number a whole value by moving the decimal. If you move the decimal on the outside you must move the inside decimal the same number of places.
|
Estimating for Multiplication and Division by Rounding Numbers: Round the numbers to a value you know how to multiply or divide. Look for the easier whole number but one that will give you the most accurate answer.

LOWEST COMMON MULTIPLE AND GREATEST COMMON FACTOR
PRIME FACTORIZATION
Prime Factorization Tree
Use the factorization tree to break down your whole number to its prime numbers Remember to write out your answer Prime Factors of 84 --> 2x2x3x7 Rewritten as 84 --> (2^2)x(3)x(7) - in exponent form |
Prime Factorization to Calculate LCM and GCF.
Complete the prime factorization tree to find all the prime numbers that multiply to give you the whole number. Look for overlapping numbers (multiply the overlapping numbers together for GCF. Multiply the remaining numbers to your GCF to calculate LCM. Calculate second LCM by multiplying LCM by 2. |
Exponents, Bedmas, Square Root
Test: To be announced
FRACTIONS
Comparing DecimalsCompare numbers from LEFT to RIGHT. Once you find a place value where the digits are different circle the two numbers. Compare and identify the greater number.
Sept 14 |
Ordering DecimalsCompare the values and put them in order from least to greatest OR greatest to least based on what the question is asking you. Using a number line can be helpful as it gives you a visual diagram.
